Varanasi: The Uttar Pradesh govt is continuously working to expand the scope of govt jobs and opportunities for sportspersons, labour minister Anil Rajbhar said on Sunday.Speaking at the 70th State School Handball Competition held at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Complex, Bada Lalpur, Rajbhar said that, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath, sports facilities are being rapidly expanded to make Uttar Pradesh a sports powerhouse.The minister said the government aims to provide more opportunities for players and encourage sporting talent across the state. He added that sports facilities would also be strengthened at the tehsil and development block levels so that talented athletes from rural and remote areas can be brought into the mainstream.Rajbhar said the state govt is working to strengthen sports infrastructure while creating better opportunities for talented players. He noted that Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut has begun functioning, while five sports colleges operating in the state are also helping train young sporting talent.
