Delhi Gets Light Rain; Showers Likely to Pause After Tuesday

New Delhi: Several parts of Delhi recorded light rain Sunday. There are chances of rain Monday and Tuesday, but from Wednesday to Aug 29, more rain is unlikely.India Meteorological Department has said that Safdarjung, the city’s base station, logged 3.4 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm. Janakpuri received 28.5 mm, Naraina 21.5 mm, Palam 10.6 mm, Lodhi Road 2.7 mm, Ridge 0.8 mm and Ayanagar 0.6 mm of rainfall.The Met department has predicted light to moderate showers Monday while the city may receive light to very light rain Tuesday.The maximum temperature Sunday was 33.9 degrees Celsius, which is near normal for this time of the year. It was 35.2 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The heat index or feels-like temperature stood at 41.9 degrees Celsius at 2.30 pm Sunday.The day temperature is expected to stay around 34-36 degrees Celsius over the next two days. After the rain stops, the maximum temperature may rise by around 1-2 degrees Celsius.The minimum stood at 25.9 degrees Celsius Sunday, which is one notch below the normal. It will be remain 24-26 degrees Celsius Monday.Delhi’s air quality was satisfactory. The AQI was 96.
