Jaisalmer: Baba Ramdev Fair at Ramdevra, a major centre of faith and devotion for millions of people across the country, will officially begin on Sept 13 on Bhadava Shukla Dwitiya and continue until Bhadava Shukla Ekadashi.With lakhs of devotees expected to visit Ramdevra during the annual fair, the district administration has started finalising arrangements on a priority basis.To review preparations and ensure comprehensive arrangements for devotees, Jodhpur divisional commissioner Kanhaiya Lal Swami chaired a meeting Friday with district-level officers of various departments associated with the fair and representatives of the Baba Ramdev Temple Committee.Swami reviewed preparations department-wise and directed officials to complete all arrangements within the stipulated time and ensure close coordination and prompt action throughout the fair.He said lakhs of devotees from across India visit the holy land of Baba Ramdev with immense faith and devotion, and ensuring their safety, convenience and comfort must remain the administration’s top priority. He directed all departments to discharge their responsibilities with sensitivity, seriousness and accountability so that devotees return from Ramdevra with memorable experiences.Special attention was given to security arrangements at Ramsarovar pond.Swami directed officials to ensure adequate lighting, strong barricading and round-the-clock availability of trained swimmers to prevent any drowning incident. Arrangements for tents and other facilities for women at the pond were also ordered.The Gram Panchayat and Temple Committee were directed to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the fair area, including regular garbage collection and disposal along major routes, public places and devotee movement zones. Officials were also instructed to monitor the sale and use of polythene, gutka and other prohibited items and take necessary action.NHAI officials were instructed to ensure road safety measures, including reflectors and radium markings, quick traffic management during congestion and cranes for removing damaged or stranded vehicles.District collector Anupama Jorwal briefed the divisional commissioner on preparations completed so far and the administration’s coordinated action plan for ensuring a safe, orderly and devotee-friendly fair.
