Pune: Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) will organise four programmes in the city from Thursday to Saturday to promote scientific temper, rationalism and social reform.Activists will pay tribute to the rationalist on Thursday near Veer Ra Shinde Bridge, where Dabholkar was killed in 2013. Senior scientist Arvind Gupta will release a booklet on scientific temper, written for children by MKCL chief Vivek Sawant.A poetry and reading programme, Maniyale Nahi Bahumata, would be held at S M Joshi Socialist Foundation hall in Navi Peth from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.Four biographical booklets on Dabholkar, CPI leader Govind Pansare, scholar M M Kalburgi and journalist Gauri Lankesh would be released at Marathwada Mitramandal College auditorium on Friday (Aug 21). Filmmaker Sunil Sukthankar will release the books. Senior bureaucrat and writer Sangram Gaikwad will preside over the event.The programmes will conclude on Saturday (Aug 22) with Narendra Dabholkar Memorial Lecture at Neelu Phule auditorium of Rashtra Seva Dal near Dandekar Bridge. Senior Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan will speak on “Attacks on Scientific Temper and Today’s India”, with senior lawyer Abhay Nevagi in the chair. Ten English translations of Dabholkar’s books would be released, too.
