Ghaziabad: Two kanwar pilgrims returning from Haridwar died and two others were seriously injured after their motorcycles struck a stationary Mother Dairy truck from behind on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near UP Gate on Wednesday.The two teenagers — Prince Kumar (17) and Krishna (16) — had left home on Tuesday for Haridwar along with Saurabh (18) and Akash (24). They had fetched water from the Ganga and were returning to their homes in Gurgaon. Around 6am, the two bikes which were being driven at a high speed collided with the truck.They tried to stop vehicles, but no one assisted them. Later, Saurabh dialled 112 and informed the police. Two ambulances were dispatched. Prince and Krishna were taken to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared them dead. Akash and Saurabh were taken in a different ambulance to MMG Hospital, where Akash is undergoing treatment and Saurabh has been discharged after first aid.Saurabh told the cops that their motorcycles had crashed into a dairy truck that had broken down in one of the lanes on DME. “Prince’s head had been split open and Krishna also had a head injury. There was so much blood,” he said.ACP Suryabali Maurya said that the teenagers’ bodies have been sent for autopsy and Akash has been admitted to hospital for treatment. The truck has been taken into custody. Initial investigation revealed that the truck had broken down, due to which it was parked on the roadside. The driver had called a mechanic for help. At the time of the accident, neither the driver nor the helper was in the truck. “No complaint has been made by the victim’s family,” he said.
