Bengaluru: Two men have been detained for theft of water taps from Yeshwantpur railway station and 54 such devices recovered from them.Around 5:30am Tuesday, RPF staff who noticed a man walking suspiciously at the station, detained him who identified himself as HB Shivakumar. The 46-year old had a screw driver with him and allegedly revealed that he had stolen these taps.Based on his disclosure, RPF was able to connect him with three incidents of tap thefts which occurred within Yeshwantpur. In the first instance, 25 taps were found missing, while 13 taps were reported missing in another instance. In the third such reported instance, a total 16 taps were flagged missing and separate FIR’s were lodged by police.Following the lead provided by the accused, RPF staff proceeded to Madhu old paper mart, a scrap shop in Kodigehalli. “The shop owner, Madhu Chinnaraji, identified the accused and revealed that he had purchased all 54 of these stolen railway taps,” an RPF officer said. The officer added that of all 54 the missing taps found on the premises of the shop.Madhu was named in the case as the second accused. Both have been detained.
