Jaisalmer: Security agencies seized 1.041kg heroin worth about Rs 5 crore along the India-Pakistan international border in Sriganganagar Sunday and arrested a 20-year-old alleged smuggler during a joint operation in Kesarisinhpur village.Officials said the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the BSF’s G Branch acted after a heroin consignment was dropped into Indian territory from Pakistan using a drone.The accused, Teerth Singh, 20, a resident of Malkana Khurd in Sriganganagar, was caught when he arrived to collect the consignment. He is being interrogated, and agencies are working to identify others linked to the network.Acting on specific intelligence inputs and under the direction of ANTF IG Vikas Kumar and NCB Zonal Director Ghanshyam Soni (IRS), carried out the joint operation, codenamed “Dhurandhar,” officials said.The heroin was packed in two packets of 500 grams each, wrapped in yellow polythene with rings attached, indicating drone delivery.A case was registered at NCB Jodhpur under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985. Singh was taken to the NCB headquarters in Jodhpur for further questioning.
