PUNE: An 11-year-old boy died after coming under the wheels of a truck while travelling on a motorcycle with his father and sister in Maharashtra’s Pune.The accident took place in Hinjewadi on Monday, news agency PTI reported.CCTV footage showed the motorcycle skidding on a broken stretch of road before the boy came under the truck.However, police have registered a case against the truck driver for allegedly driving recklessly.The boy, a resident of Maan near Hinjewadi, was travelling with his father and sister on a motorcycle to attend his classes on Monday afternoon.Daily commuters to the Hinjewadi IT Park expressed anger over the incident and blamed the civic authorities, citing the road’s poor condition, PTI reported.According to the FIR, the three were travelling on Nande-Mhalunge Road when a truck hit their two-wheeler from behind, causing all three to fall from the motorcycle.The boy came under the rear wheel of the truck and died, police said.However, the CCTV footage showed that the motorcycle, while trying to overtake the truck from the left, skidded, possibly because of the broken road, following which the boy came under the truck’s wheels.Following the accident, locals and commuters expressed anger at the civic authorities, holding them responsible for the poor condition of the road.(With agency inputs)
