Maharashtra’s cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar assumes charge as chairman of ND Studios

Mumbai: Maharashtra cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar on Monday assumed charge as chairperson of ND Studio Karjat which has been taken over by the state govt for operations. At the board meeting, it was decided to offer a 50% concession up to March 31, 2027 on the entry fee to the theme park at ND Studios, accommodation charges for producers, artistes, art directors and other dignitaries coming for filming, as well as charges for various locations made available for shooting. Officials said this will significantly reduce filming costs for producers and encourage more films and audiovisual productions to be shot at ND Studios. Given the rising film production costs, studio charges, location fees and accommodation expenses for artistes and technicians constitute a significant part of a production budget. This 50% concession on various facilities at ND Studios is expected to provide substantial relief to producers, said officials.Discussions were also held during the meeting regarding the effective development of ND Studios beyond its use as a filming location, with a focus on film production, entertainment and cultural tourism. Measures to maximise the use of the studio’s existing infrastructure, filming locations, accommodation facilities and theme park were deliberated upon.ND Studios is known for its diverse filming locations and a range of facilities required for film production.
