Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday felicitated best-performing PM SHRI schools and Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary Schools during the Independence Day celebrations, recognising their role in improving the quality of govt school education.PM SHRI Govt Senior Secondary School, Gangwa, Hisar, was adjudged the best PM SHRI school in the state. PM SHRI GSSS, Chakkarpur, Gurgaon, secured the second position, while PM SHRI GSSS, Palhawas, Rewari, was placed third.In the Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School category, Govt Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Shahzadpur, Ambala, won the first prize. GMSSSS Babain, Kurukshetra, and GMSSSS Hansi secured the second and third positions, respectively. District education officers and block education officers of the respective areas were also honoured.Speaking at the event, Saini said the PM SHRI scheme was aimed at strengthening existing govt schools and developing them as model institutions in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and the National Education Policy-2020.“These schools are being equipped to provide quality education, skill development, creative learning and better academic opportunities to students,” he said.The CM said Haryana currently has 251 PM SHRI schools and 218 Senior Secondary Model Sanskriti Schools, which are helping students prepare for future challenges through improved teaching practices and infrastructure.
