Itanagar: A proposed motorable bridge over the Simang river is set to strengthen connectivity in Siang district, improving access to essential services and supporting inclusive development.On Sunday, panchayati raj and rural development minister Ojing Tasing, who is also the local MLA, conducted a site inspection for the project.Tasing said the bridge is intended to connect communities to services and opportunities, not just reduce geographical barriers.“Once realised, the bridge will substantially reduce travel time and distance from Boleng headquarters to vital establishments, including the district hospital, the district secretariat, and other key public facilities,” he said.The Simang river, a key tributary of the Siang river, is expected to be a strategic location for the proposed crossing, which is being positioned as a major addition to regional infrastructure.The minister said the project aligns with the state govt’s push to improve daily commutes and lay a stronger foundation for inclusive growth.“Our commitment remains steadfast to build stronger connectivity, improve access to essential services and ensure that every infrastructure project translates into greater convenience and better opportunities for our people,” Tasing added.Officials said the bridge, once completed, will ease daily travel for residents and reduce the logistical challenges of reaching administrative and healthcare facilities in the district headquarters.
