Police pursue killer across states
Alwar: Police in Rajasthan’s Khairthal district have arrested a man after a relentless 7,500 km manhunt spanning nearly two months. The suspect, Mohammad Sagar Ali alias Shahbaz Khan, was arrested Thursday in Saharsa district, Bihar, and subsequently brought to Bhiwadi Friday.The case revolves around the brutal murder of 18-year-old Muskan, a resident of Ajit Colony in Bhiwadi, who originally hailed from Siwan in Bihar. Muskan’s mother reported her missing on June 19, and just three days later, a decomposed and disfigured body was discovered near a wild animal’s den in the Rampura hills near Bhiwadi. The mother identified the remains as belonging to her daughter.Investigations revealed that Muskan endured a prolonged emotional and physical ordeal, including alleged sexual abuse by Sagar, a close family acquaintance. In addition, troubling family dynamics, including an inappropriate marriage to her maternal uncle, left Muskan deeply isolated and depressed, police said.Her fight for justice took a fatal turn when Sagar discovered her plans to report the abuse to police. Fearing the fallout of their actions, he and an accomplice allegedly murdered her, crushing her skull with a stone before attempting to conceal the evidence by abandoning her body in a remote area.Led by Bhiwadi police station in charge Sachin Sharma, multiple teams began to track Sagar’s movements across various states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Utilising CCTV footage and advanced cyber technologies, they were able to monitor Sagar’s relatives, which eventually led to his arrest.The investigation remains ongoing, with police looking into the possible involvement of Sagar’s accomplice and the circumstances surrounding Muskan’s life that contributed to the brutal murder.
