Gurgaon: The city is likely to see another spell of rain on Saturday, with India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.The forecast comes as a fresh wet spell continues across Haryana. IMD has issued a yellow alert for Haryana for Saturday, indicating the possibility of heavy rain at some places. No specific warning has been issued for Gurgaon.The city received 16.5mm of rain in the 24 hours ending 5.30am on Friday. Sectors along Dwarka Expressway and parts of Old Gurgaon were among the areas that received rain during the day.The city recorded a minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 30.6 degrees Celsius on Friday at NorthCap University station. The maximum was 5 degrees Celsius lower than Thursday’s 35.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 3.2 degrees Celsius lower than Thursday’s 27.2 degrees Celsius.For Saturday, IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The minimum temperature is likely to be 27°C and the maximum 33°C. Similar conditions are expected on Sunday, with temperatures likely to remain between 27°C and 33°C.IMD’s broader forecast indicates that the wet spell will continue over Haryana, with heavy rain warnings issued again for Aug 17 and 18 after no warning for Aug 16.The forecast follows increased rain activity across the NCR on Friday. Independent weather forecaster Navdeep said conditions would favour scattered to fairly widespread moderate to heavy rainfall across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh on Independence Day, with activity likely from morning to late evening. “Rainfall of 20mm to 70mm is possible in these areas as the monsoon axis passes through central and north India and brings adequate moisture,” he said.With more rain expected, temporary waterlogging and traffic disruptions remain possible in areas prone to drainage congestion, particularly if showers become intense over short periods.
