Two slip road bridges opened in Kondli to ease traffic

Times News NetworkNew Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta Thursday inaugurated two newly constructed two-lane slip road bridges over Ghazipur Drain and Hindon Canal at Kondli, a project aimed at improving connectivity and easing traffic movement in the area. The new bridges will provide an alternative route for traffic between Chand Cinema Road, Ghazipur Road and Kondli Bridge. The project is expected to reduce traffic pressure and conflicts at the main intersection, where vehicles travelling towards Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and Noida earlier converged, often leading to congestion during peak hours. The new route will benefit residents of Kondli, Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and the Ghazipur Dairy Farm Road area by improving road connectivity and reducing travel time, said a senior official. The bridges have been constructed on 1,200-mm-diameter RCC cast-in-situ pile foundations. Footpaths have also been provided along the bridges using steel plate girders over the drains to facilitate safer pedestrian movement.CM Gupta said the project had been approved long ago but could not move ahead as the necessary processes had not been completed. After the new govt came to power, required NOCs and approvals were provided and funds were reallocated, allowing the project to be completed and opened to the public.Union minister of state Harsh Malhotra said the bridges would provide better connectivity, smoother movement and a more convenient traffic system for residents of Trilokpuri, Kondli and Patparganj constituencies.PWD minister Parvesh Verma said the project would provide residents of Kondli, Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and adjoining areas with a better commuting option while reducing pressure and congestion on the existing Kondli Bridge.
