Accused Son Flees to Nepal, 2 Hired Killers & 1 Arms Supplier Arrested
City police arrested three persons on Thursday for killing an inmate of Sanganer open jail while he was returning to the jail on Wednesday
Jaipur: In a tale of revenge spanning nearly a decade, the son of a murdered man sought retribution by hiring assassins to eliminate the convict who took his father’s life, city police said Thursday. The crime unfolded Wednesday when Ganga Sahay, a 50-year-old prisoner, was gunned down in broad daylight while returning to Sanganer open jail. Just a day later, the city police arrested three alleged hitmen involved in the brazen execution, while the accused son, Ayush Gurjar, is believed to have fled to Nepal.As per the police, the seeds of this vendetta were sown back in April 2018 when Mahendra Gurjar was killed in Dhabas. A dispute over property between Mahendra and Sahay led to the murder, in which Sahay was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2022. Following his good behaviour in prison, he was transferred to Sanganer open jail in Jaipur, where he enjoyed certain privileges until the ghost of his past caught up with him.As Ayush orchestrated the revenge plot, he allegedly reached out to his criminal associates, Sonu Rajak (19), Amit Rana (22), and his own uncle, Kanhaiya Lal Gurjar (40), said police. “About Rs 30,000 was promised to Rajak and Rana for the killing,” said Prashant Kiran, DCP (West).Just 12 days prior to the meticulously planned ambush, Ayush fled to Nepal after setting the deadly scheme in motion, the DCP said.On the fateful evening, Sahay left for Sanganer open jail around 5 pm Wednesday, unaware of the fate that awaited him. Moments later, as he rode through Janki Vihar Colony, two masked men on a scooter blocked his path and unleashed a hail of bullets. Sahay fell lifeless on the busy road, a casualty of vengeance. An ambulance rushed him to SMS Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police recovered three empty cartridges from the scene, indicating the premeditated nature of the attack.“We formed special teams and reviewed CCTV footage to close in on the suspects,” DCP Kiran said. Police investigation revealed that Rajak and Rana shadowed Sahay until the opportune moment arose, while Kanhaiya supplied the firearm used in the assassination. Disturbing whispers of Sahay’s premonitions about the attack surfaced, with his elder brother Nemichand recounting that Sahay had warned him about possible threats from Mahendra’s sons.The manhunt for Ayush is now underway, with city police piecing together the intricate web surrounding the cold-blooded crime. “We are working to establish the entire chain, including how the attackers tracked Sahay and arranged the weapons,” Kiran said.
