Ludhiana: Five days after the murder of Harjinder Singh, alias Harry, in Swatantra Nagar, police managed to get the autopsy conducted after persuading his protesting family members. According to the report, the victim suffered two bullet injuries, fractures in both legs and an arm, besides injuries to the head and abdomen. One of the bullets pierced his stomach, damaging internal organs and causing his death, the autopsy report stated.A board of three doctors conducted the autopsy on Thursday. The report revealed that a bullet struck Harjinder on the right side of the abdomen and exited through the left side after grazing his arm. The second bullet hit his thigh. Besides gunshot injuries, Harjinder had multiple injuries on both legs and an arm. He was allegedly assaulted repeatedly, resulting in bone fractures. He also sustained blunt-force injuries to the head and abdominal region.Following the autopsy, the family performed his last rites in the presence of police personnel.Harjinder Singh had gone to Sarabha Nagar for dinner with friends. From there, they went to Swatantra Nagar to drop a friend.At around 11.30pm, car-borne assailants intercepted him and opened fire. The accused allegedly fired multiple rounds at Harjinder, who collapsed. They then allegedly continued to assault him with a sharp-edged weapon even after he had died.The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed at the spot.Police registered a murder case against Ravi Kumar, Mohit, Sunny Malton, Manjeet alias Bobby, Bheeu and two of their aides. Bobby and Mohit have been arrested.Police have also brought jail inmate Amandeep Kumar alias Kaka from Ludhiana Central Jail on a production warrant, alleging that his car was used by the assailants.Harjinder’s family had initially refused to allow the autopsy and cremation until all the accused were arrested.Probe so far–Police said Harjinder was wanted by Batala police in a heroin seizure case dating back to October 2024. He had also been jailed in Ludhiana in cases under the NDPS Act and Arms Act and was out on bail.
