Ahmedabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested Ketki Vyas, a former resident additional collector (RAC) of Anand, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case after Gujarat High Court and a sessions court rejected her anticipatory bail pleas.After her arrest, the ACB produced her before a special court in Ahmedabad. Since the agency did not seek her custodial interrogation, the court sent her to judicial custody.ACB deputy director Haresh Mevada said on Thursday that Vyas had allegedly amassed assets exceeding her known sources of income by Rs 3.56 crore. The case followed a complaint received in 2023, after which the ACB began examining her assets and financial transactions.According to the ACB, Vyas had acquired properties and other assets in the names of her parents, who are based in Viramgam and perform religious rituals and run a bookstall. The properties under scrutiny include flats in Bodakdev and on Science City Road, a bungalow in Tragad, a shop in Viramgam and several vehicles.The ACB also found 24 bank accounts linked to the family, into which substantial amounts had allegedly been deposited. Investigators are examining the source of the funds and the transactions made through these accounts, Mevada said.After her anticipatory bail pleas were rejected, Vyas did not appear before the ACB. The agency sought help from Ahmedabad crime branch and traced her to her sister’s house in Shela, where she was arrested.Vyas joined govt service as a chief officer in 2001 and was appointed a mamlatdar in 2005. She subsequently served in several positions before becoming Anand’s resident additional collector.Vyas had first come into the spotlight in 2023 when she was arrested in connection with a case involving the then Anand collector, D S Gadhvi. She was accused of conspiring with the then Anand collectorate chitnis, Jayesh Kumar Patel, and Harish Chavda to install a spy camera in Gadhvi’s office. The trio were also accused of sending a woman into his office and recording her interaction with Gadhvi as part of an alleged blackmail attemptHer husband, Bhaskar Vyas, is a deputy superintendent of police posted in Porbandar.
