Guwahati: The Assam Christian Forum (ACF) expresses its gratitude to the Centre for its decision to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) for detailed examination.While welcoming the referral of FCRA Amendment Bill to the JPC, the ACF said in a statement on Thursday it was a prudent decision to refer the Bill to a JPC for detailed examination. “We offer heartfelt thanks to God for His gracious intervention in guiding this process towards greater consultation and dialogue,” spokesperson of ACF, Allen Brooks, said.ACF, the umbrella body of churches across denominations in Assam, said the consultation reflects the govt’s willingness to hear the concerns of NGOs, minority communities and other civil society stakeholders. “The Assam Christian Forum warmly welcomes the opportunity for wider deliberation and looks forward to constructive engagement with the ministry of home affairs and the joint parliamentary committee during the scrutiny of the proposed legislation,” Brooks added.The ACF reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and responsible engagement with the govt and all stakeholders, always keeping the larger interest of the country and its people at the centre. “We pray that the deliberations of the joint parliamentary committee will be guided by wisdom, fairness and the common good,” ACF said.
