Pune: Shivajinagar police have registered a case of extortion against a reporter after he allegedly threatened a govt railway police (GRP) inspector in Pune and demanded Rs 10 lakh on Wednesday.The inspector (57), a resident of Khadki, told the police that the reporter had recorded videos of GRP headquarters in Khadki and claimed that the drills on the premises were being conducted poorly.The reporter runs a channel on a video-sharing platform. The reporter prepared a misleading news report, according to the police, about the drill and sent it to the inspector on a messaging application.According to the police, the reporter later called the inspector and asked him to meet at a luxury hotel on Ganeshkhind Road. The inspector went to the hotel, where the reporter allegedly threatened him and demanded Rs 10 lakh.He also promised the inspector that he would not upload the video if the inspector paid him, the police said. The police said the inspector did not pay the money and lodged a complaint. Further investigation is underway, the police said.
