Bengaluru: A routine commute on Namma Metro turned violent when a dispute over a queue allegedly led to the assault of a 23-year-old woman at Rajarajeshwarinagar Metro station Tuesday morning.According to the complaint filed with police, Nimisha DR, an accountant from BEML Layout, was waiting to recharge her Metro card around 8.45am before heading to work in Indiranagar. She noticed a woman, believed to be in her mid-30s, arguing with Metro staff and delaying the queue. As she was getting late, Nimisha asked the woman to make way.The request escalated into an argument, following which the woman allegedly slapped Nimisha. Despite commuters intervening, the accused allegedly blocked her path, scratched her face and back, punched her on the head, and abused and threatened her. Nimisha recorded part of the incident on her phone. In the video, the woman allegedly claims to be the “daughter of the commissioner” and is heard hurling insults at Nimisha.Metro staff and commuters eventually separated the two after nearly 10 minutes. Nimisha’s father, contractor Ravikumar DE, said the woman had been arguing with staff for more than five minutes. “Another woman broke the queue and purchased a ticket. So, my daughter asked her to make way as others were getting delayed because of her. The woman became aggressive and assaulted her,” he said.Nimisha later received treatment at a private hospital before filing a police complaint. “We’ve got the video from the complainant and are making efforts to trace the woman,” a senior police officer said.
