Lucknow: Three medal winners at the 2022 Asian Games will be appointed to the post of district youth welfare officers in the state.The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by chief secretary SP Goyal on Wednesday in accordance with a govt policy to award medal winners with govt positions. The three athletes, who won medals at the 19th Asian Games, include Nitish Kumar, Ajay Kumar Saroj and Neeraj. Nitish and Neeraj won silver medals in the men’s rowing event, while Ajay Kumar won a silver medal in the men’s 1,500 m athletics event.The appointment of the three athletes was taken in accordance with their achievements and contribution to bringing honour to the state at an international level. The CS has directed concerned departments to complete the necessary formalities at the earliest.“The state govt is continuously making efforts to encourage sporting talent and secure the future of athletes. It is a priority of the Yogi Adityanath-led state govt to provide recognition and opportunities to athletes who bring glory to the country and the state by winning medals at the international level,” the CS said.He directed the concerned officials to ensure that there are no delays in the appointment process.
