Bathinda: Concerned over the proposed FTA with the US, farmer organization BKU Ekta Ugrahan has decided to hold protests at headquarters of several corporate houses on Aug 20. The protests will be held at the corporate office of Cargill India at Bathinda, Pepsico India’ plant at Channo village in Sangrur district and a water filtration plant at Amritsar.BKU Ekta Ugrahan president Joginder Singh Ugrahan on Tuesday claimed that the free trade agreements will ruin agriculture and small businesses in India.“We had been raising voice for a long time against such agreements, which are like a back door entry of the now repealed farm laws, but the central government is going ahead in inking these deals. The protests on August 20 at three places in Punjab will be only a warning to the central government and further action plans will be decided in near future,” he said.
