Chandigarh bomb scare: 4 schools receive threat emails, security teams conduct searches
Police and security agencies quickly mobilized, conducting thorough searches across all affected campuses

CHANDIGARH: Four schools in Chandigarh received bomb threat emails on Tuesday morning, triggering a major security response as police, bomb detection teams and sniffer dog squads carried out extensive searches across the campuses and adjoining areas.No bomb or suspicious object was found at any of the schools, officials said.The schools named in the threatening communications were Carmel Convent School in Sector 9-B, St John’s High School and Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Sector 26, and St Stephen’s School in Sector 45-B.Soon after the threats were reported, police teams along with bomb detection and disposal personnel and sniffer dog squads reached the affected schools and conducted thorough searches of the premises.As a precautionary measure, security personnel also checked areas surrounding the schools and stepped up security arrangements in and around the campuses.Officials said exhaustive searches did not uncover any explosive device or suspicious object.Police have launched a technical investigation to identify the source of the threatening emails and trace the person responsible for sending them.The incident led to heightened security measures around all four schools as authorities continued to assess the threat.According to police, the four schools were identified as targets in threatening communications received by the authorities.(With PTI inputs)
