Chennai: VO Chidambaranar (VOC) Port Authority has become the first port in India to receive ISO 50001:2018 certification for its Energy Management System. The port was also accredited by Bureau Veritas as a Scope-2 Emission-Free Port, with renewable sources meeting 93.89% of its electricity needs in FY26. VOC Port currently has 7.04 MW of solar and 2 MW of wind capacity and plans to add 2 MW of ground-mounted solar, 17 MW of wind capacity with 5 MWh battery storage, a Green Hydrogen Hub and a Green Methanol bunkering facility.
