A total of 350 officials participated on the first day.An official said the GCC staffers were put into several tough spots. “They may face immediate pressure from higher ups or have demanding conversations with contractors who may force them to act in a certain way. Some might face issues with local MLAs too. These sessions will sensitize them to escalate such matters through a right channel, and not give in to any pressure, and respond with rules,” an official said. The programme will also create awareness among govt employees on the importance of taking family breaks and long leave, besides encouraging them to travel as a way of maintaining their overall wellbeing.GCC commissioner G S Sameeran said officials worked from early morning till late at night while handling various development projects and providing essential civic services to nearly one crore residents. “Given the workload and responsibilities, it was essential for officials to pay attention to their physical and mental health,” he said.
