Hyderabad: A 19-year-old worker was electrocuted and two others suffered electric shocks while erecting flexi boards for Bonalu celebrations in Narsapur town of Medak district early on Friday. The accident occurred when an iron frame being carried by the workers accidentally came in contact with an overhead power line.The deceased was identified as M Harshavardhan (19), while the injured were B Akhil and Mohammed Irfan, all residents of Narsapur. According to Narsapur sub-inspector A Ranjith Reddy, the three worked for a firm engaged in installing flexi boards in the town.The trio went to an open area in front of a Shiva temple in Narsapur to install flexi boards featuring local political leaders and temple committee members ahead of the Bonalu celebrations scheduled for Aug 9 and 10.“At around 5 am when Harshavardhan was carrying an iron frame to set up flexi near the temple, he lost balance and the top of the frame came in contact with overhead live wire. Harshavardhan suffered a severe shock. Akhil and Irfan tried to help him, but they moved away as they too suffered a shock,” the SI said.Harshavardhan collapsed on the spot. Residents immediately shifted him, along with the injured workers, to a nearby hospital.Police registered a case under section 194 (suspicious death) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
