Varanasi: Following repeated complaints from residents over the poor condition of Chitaipur road, where waterlogging, mud and deep potholes have made commuting difficult, Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari, taking cognisance, conducted a surprise inspection of the area on Friday along with senior officials. The road has been dug up at several places by the PWD for repair work, leaving behind large potholes that fill with rainwater.During the inspection, the mayor and Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal reprimanded PWD engineers present at the site. They directed officials to fill the potholes immediately and restore smooth traffic movement on the stretch.The mayor warned that if the work is not completed without delay, a formal complaint regarding the negligence of the officials concerned will be sent to the state govt.
