Vanlalruata Aizawl: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Aizawl have seized 15 kilogrammes of methamphetamine tablets at near Sakei Bangla Restaurant in Seling village of Aizawl District on Thursday, an official press release issued by the Assam Rifles said on Friday.According to the press release, during the operation, the joint team intercepted a Suzuki Eeco Ambulance carrying 15 kilogrammes of methamphetamine tablets, with an estimated market value of Rs. 45 crore.Three persons, all of them residents of the state were arrested in this connection. “In an attempt to avoid suspicion, one of the apprehended individuals, a woman, was posing as a patient while travelling in the ambulance. The operation resulted in the apprehension of three persons and seizure of the ambulance used for transporting the contraband,” the press release said.The recovered contraband, along with the apprehended individuals, the seized vehicle and other articles were handed over to DRI, Aizawl, for further investigation and legal proceedings under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
