Bengaluru West City Corporation (BWCC) Thursday cleared 35 encroachments along a 250-metre stretch on both sides of Vijayanagar 6th Main Road. Popularly known as Vijayanagar Food Street, the road falls under Govindarajanagar division. The action followed a complaint before Lokayukta over illegal occupation of footpaths and inconvenience caused to motorists and pedestrians.According to BWCC officials, food vendors would occupy one side of the stretch during evenings, while the opposite side had more permanent structures encroaching upon the footpath. Residents had complained that customers parked vehicles haphazardly along the road, leading to traffic congestion and obstructing pedestrian movement.““For nearly 10 years, residents had been struggling with problems caused by the food street.
