Gurgaon: Haryana Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday secured the deportation of alleged gangster Gaurav Gadoli, an alleged member of the Kaushal-Bambiha gang, from UAE.Gaurav, a resident of Gadoli Khurd village, has been a proclaimed offender since Oct 14, 2022. A lookout circular and a red corner notice had also been issued against him through Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).Police said he faces six criminal cases, including extortion, attempt to murder, organised crime, illegal possession of arms and offences under Passport Act. Three more cases were registered against him after he fled India. According to STF, he was involved in a firing incident at a private hospital in Rewari and another in Sector 50, Gurgaon.Police said Gaurav left India on Nov 30, 2023, on an Air India Express flight from Lucknow to Dubai after allegedly obtaining a passport fraudulently from Bareilly in UP by posing as Sahil Yadav, a resident of Firozabad. He later moved to Georgia, where he worked as a food delivery agent, and continued travelling between Dubai and Georgia.After Indian authorities coordinated with their Georgian counterparts, he was deported to Dubai and subsequently sent back to India. “UAE authorities, who were aware of his criminal record in India, deported him, following which he landed in Jaipur and was arrested”, a senior STF officer said.STF officers said his detention and deportation were made possible through coordination with Narcotics Control Bureau, CBI and ministry of external affairs.According to STF, Gaurav had been operating from Dubai and Georgia for nearly three years, allegedly coordinating extortion networks, criminal conspiracies and organised crime across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.Investigators alleged that he handled “dabba calls” or SIM box operations for absconding gangster Pawan Shokeen. The equipment was used to route and divert calls over the internet, masking their origin and facilitating cyber fraud, while also helping the gang coordinate criminal activities from outside India.Police further alleged that he managed recruitment and financial operations of the gang along with his sister Manisha, the wife of gangster Kaushal Chaudhary, and also made extortion calls on Kaushal’s behalf from abroad.With Gaurav’s return, Haryana STF has brought back 13 fugitives to India this year, Inspector General of Police (STF) Satheesh Balan said. Earlier this year, the agency had secured the deportation of Sahil Chauhan from Thailand. Sahil is an alleged associate of the Kaushal-Bambiha gang facing 16 criminal cases.“The operation is another significant step in Haryana Police’s sustained campaign against organised crime syndicates operating from foreign countries. Similar action against absconding gangsters will continue,” Balan said.Meanwhile, the STF has proposed announcing a reward of US $10,000 (around Rs 9.5 lakh) each on four wanted gangsters believed to be operating from abroad — Himanshu Bhau of Rohtak, Rohit Godara of Rajasthan, Randeep Malik of Jind and Anil Pandit of Panipat.A senior STF officer said, “The proposal, sent to the Haryana director general of police for approval, aims to encourage actionable intelligence that could help trace, apprehend or secure the extradition or deportation of the four gangsters. They are accused in multiple cases involving organised crime, including extortion and targeted killings, and are believed to be directing criminal activities in Haryana and other parts of the country.”Officers said the proposed reward scheme is intended to strengthen intelligence gathering and intensify the fight against transnational organised crime networks.
