Varanasi: A 35-year-old cancer patient from Bihar died after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre in Varanasi around 1 am on Tuesday. The patient, who had recently undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer and was recovering, had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for several days.In an official statement, the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre said that the patient, Rameshwar Kumar, a resident of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, had recently undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer and was making a satisfactory recovery. The hospital administration expressed profound grief over the incident and immediately informed Chitaipur police.Police said Kumar took the extreme step while his attendant was sleeping.ACP (Bhelupur) Gaurav Kumar said that on receiving information, Chitaipur police rushed to the spot and called forensic experts to collect necessary evidence. The body was later sent for postmortem examination.
