Mangaluru: KPCC spokesperson M.G. Hegde strongly objected to actor Anant Nag’s recent statements supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and commenting on social abuses and protests. On Anant Nag’s remark about the ‘contagious disease’ of social abuse and trolling, MG Hegde alleged, “It was the RSS and the Sangh parivaar who first spread this contagious disease in society. The Sangh parivaar itself created textual and vocal terrorism on social media platforms.”Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Hegde said that even during Anna Hazare’s agitation, the Congress never branded anyone anti-national. “Who introduced the culture of calling protesting farmers, students, and social activists ‘Urban Naxals’ and ‘anti-nationals’ after 2014? Did Anant Nag not remember this ‘contagious disease’ when character assassination of Gandhi and Nehru was carried out, or when the former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy were trolled over personal matters in public? When 21 innocent students died by suicide due to irregularities in the NEET examination, why couldn’t you issue even a single compassionate statement to give them courage?,” he questioned.Dismissing PM Modi’s claim of ‘good governance’, Hegde asked whether keeping petrol and diesel prices high in the country despite a fall in crude oil prices in the international market qualified as good governance.
