Gurgaon: A 38-year-old man was killed after the autorickshaw he was travelling in overturned on the IFFCO Chowk flyover at 9am on Monday.The driver of the three-wheeler also sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.The victim, Ravi Prakash, from Jammu, lived with his family in Sushant Estate for the past two years and worked as a manager at the Gurgaon branch of Jammu & Kashmir Bank.According to police, Ravi left home for work as usual and was travelling to the bank when the accident occurred. The speeding autorickshaw allegedly went out of control. The impact of the crash threw the vehicle off balance, causing it to overturn after striking the divider.Preliminary investigation suggests overspeeding as the likely cause of the accident, though all aspects are being examined.Police said Ravi suffered severe head and body injuries in the accident. Locals and police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.The autorickshaw driver is said to be stable, and his statement will be recorded once he is fit, cops said. The accident briefly affected traffic movement on the busy IFFCO Chowk flyover before police cleared the damaged vehicle from the carriageway. The autorickshaw was seized.An officer said they are examining whether the crash was caused solely by overspeeding or if any mechanical failure or other factors also contributed to the accident. CCTV footage from the area is also being examined.
