Mumbai: The body of a 35-year-old security guard, with his hands tied behind his back, was found floating in a water tank on the ground floor of a residential building in Vile Parle (West) on Monday, police said.Juhu police registered a case of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against an unknown person, and seven teams were probing the case to track down the accused who killed the guard, identified as Manojkumar Yadav. Police said they will know the motive behind the killing only after making an arrest. The matter came to light when Yadav’s reliever reported to work at Abhijit Building on SV Road and failed to locate him at the duty spot. “After searching the entire building, he made calls to the manpower recruiting agency but failed to trace him. Yadav’s body was later found inside the ground floor water tank which was covered with a lid. Preliminary postmotem report showed Yadav was strangulated before his hands were tied and dumped in the tank,” said a police officer of the Juhu police station.Yadav worked as a guard at the six-storeyed residential building for the last few months and the building was supposed to undergo redevelopment. “The fifth and sixth floors have occupancy of people staying with their family. While the lower floors have offices. On Sunday evening and night, people from the building and neighbourhood had seen Yadav and even spoke with him,” said a police officer.Police said Yadav was killed late night and the motive remained unclear. Police were probing all angles behind Yadav’s murder, including whether an extra-marital affair was behind the offence. “Police teams are going through the closed circuit television (CCTV) footages from the locality and the surrounding areas to identify anyone who had visited the building and fled away after killing Yadav,” said the officer.
