Noida: Residents of Greater Noida’s Beta 1 have flagged the poor condition of the service road between gates 2 and 5, saying deep potholes have made commuting risky during the monsoon. They warned that the damaged stretch poses a serious accident risk to motorists and pedestrians alike and sought immediate repairs.Harinder Bhati, the sector’s RWA general secretary, said the road’s condition reflects the hollow slogans of progress touted by GNIDA. “With every pothole, we are reminded of the false promises of development made by the Authority. It seems the authority’s indifference may soon cost someone their life,” he said.Residents said the road’s condition has been deteriorating for months, with little acknowledgement from officials. GNIDA officials as well as elected representatives have both turned a blind eye to the issue, they said.“We are left asking when this road will be built. Or will it take a major tragedy for action to be taken?” said RWA president Sangeeta Sharma.

Similar complaints have also been raised from nearby sectors. In Gamma 1, the repair work began far too late, according to residents. With the monsoon in full swing, repairs on heavily cratered and inundated roads during showers instead of before the onset of the monsoon seem impractical, they said.“Instead of planting new saplings during the rainy season, the authority is busy building a dilapidated road. What are they doing? This work should have been done much before the onset of monsoon,” said Gamma 1 resident Nidhi Sharma.Residents raised demands for the Authority to address the crucial infrastructure issues that threaten their safety. “The public’s patience is wearing thin, and they eagerly await accountability and tangible solutions from their elected and appointed officials,” Bhati said.GNIDA officials TOI spoke to, meanwhile, said that the matter will be addressed soon, as repair work is already in progress.
