Lucknow: Bahraich police solved the theft of a computer from the district jail within three hours of the case being registered, arresting the accused and recovering the stolen equipment on Saturday.The theft was reported after an all-in-one computer went missing from the visitor pass room of Bahraich district jail during the intervening night of July 31 and Aug 1. Given the security implications of a theft inside jail premises, senior officers ordered an immediate probe and constituted a special team to track down the culprit.An FIR was registered at Kotwali Dehat police station under section 305(e) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).During the investigation, police spotted a suspicious youth near the cemetery boundary wall on main jail road close to Indira stadium. The suspect was identified as Sahil Qadri (20), a resident of Gullaveer colony under Dargah Sharif police station limits.Police recovered a dismantled all-in-one computer, a keyboard and a screwdriver from his possession. During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing the computer, police said.Following the recovery, police added section 317(2) of the BNS to the case. Officials said the accused was produced before the court after completion of legal formalities.
