Guwahati: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the death of Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankar reached New Delhi on Friday to meet his family members and collect evidence. Dhankar was found hanging in the washroom of his office on July 20.The team is gathering documents, recording statements, validating critical information and examining various aspects of the case to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.The officials visiting Delhi are Amtali police station officer-in-charge inspector Rana Chatterjee, West Agartala women police station officer-in-charge inspector Shiuli Das and Ramnagar Town outpost officer-in-charge sub-inspector Subendu Das. The team is headed by West Tripura superintendent of police Namit Pathak.The post-mortem report and forensic examination concluded that Dhankar died by hanging, according to officials.CPM and Congress, both have, however, demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting high court judge.Police sources said the investigation was progressing on multiple fronts, with the SIT focused on collecting all available evidence and interacting with Dhankar’s family members to ensure a fair and comprehensive inquiry.
