Mohali: Police arrested a 30-year-old man after an incident of alleged cruelty and sexual abuse of a cow was reported in Baltana in the early hours of Friday. Acting on a complaint by local resident Ravinder Kumar, police apprehended the accused, identified as Shiv Ram, a native of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh currently residing in Chandigarh. The complainant claimed he witnessed the incident near Sohi Complex Market and recorded a video before handing the suspect over to police. A case has been registered under the BNS and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Police said the video and other evidence are being examined. Members of the Bharatiya Gauraksha Sangh also demanded strict action against the accused. Investigation is under way.
