Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh govt has ordered a statewide inspection of pharmacies and medicine retail outlets to ensure compliance with legal, professional and quality standards. Inspection reports must be submitted by August 14.Assistant drugs controller and controlling authority Gebomb Tayeng directed zonal licensing authorities and drug control officers to inspect pharmaceutical establishments in their jurisdictions following concerns over their functioning.Officials will verify drug licences, ownership documents, pharmacists’ credentials, infrastructure, storage facilities, cold-chain compliance, stock registers, invoices and purchase records. They will also check for expired, counterfeit or unapproved medicines and ensure qualified pharmacists are present during operating hours where required.The inspections will assess compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and applicable state rules.District medical officers have been asked to assist inspection teams. The exercise aims to ensure that medicines sold across the state are safe, effective and dispensed by qualified professionals.
