Gurgaon: A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with a gunfight that took place at a vegetable market in Tigra village on March 2. The accused, Abhishek, is the seventh to be arrested in the case so far.According to cops, two men, Divesh and Praveen, had an argument, which allegedly escalated into a violent clash between their families. Soon after, eight to 10 men from Praveen’s family arrived and attacked Divesh and his father with sticks and opened fire, leaving them critically injured. They also issued threats to the duo and fled the spot. A team from Sector 56 police station reached the spot and found one live cartridge, along with two empty shells at the spot.In his complaint, Divesh’s father said he went to the vegetable market with his son around 4 pm when a group of people arrived armed with sticks and other weapons and thrashed them, causing serious injuries. He said the accused opened fire with the intent to kill them, but the father-son duo narrowly escaped the firing.According to preliminary investigation, both Divesh and Praveen and their families had a long-standing history of disputes, which often led to tension.While Praveen was arrested on March 2, six other accused, Rohit, Ritik, Rahul and Pradeep, were arrested on April 2, and a juvenile was detained. Further investigation is underway.
