3 arrested for petrol bomb attack in Patiala over enmity

Patiala: Police here on Wednesday arrested three people for allegedly hurling a petrol bomb at a house in Abchal Nagar of Patiala on July 25 night, police said.SP Palwinder Singh Cheema said the attackers had procured petrol from a filling station on the Sirhind Road, filled a beer bottle with it, stuffed a cloth wick into the mouth of the bottle, and hurled the ignited bottle at the main gate of the victim’s house with the intent to set it ablaze. The attack caused a loud explosion and triggered panic in the locality.An FIR was registered under Section 326(f) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Anaj Mandi police station on July 27.Police said a special investigation team under SP (city) Palwinder Singh Cheema and DSP (city-2) Sukhamrit Singh Randhawa used technical analysis and human intelligence to nab the culprits from Anaj Mandi on Wednesday. Police also seized the motorcycle used in the crime by the accused, Harvinder Singh alias Johny (23) of Ranjit Nagar, Harshjeet Singh alias Harsh (21) of Hasanpur, and Parmeshwar Uday Pratap Singh alias Uday (20) of Rasoolpur Saida.Police said Johny masterminded the attack as he had an enmity with the complainant.Police said all three had a criminal history. Johny is facing three FIRs for theft and violations under the NDPS Act; Harshjeet Singh faces a case of murder and violations under the Prisons Act; and Parmeshwar Uday Pratap Singh was previously booked for attempt to murder.
