Kolkata: The Rs 8,000-crore IPO of Manipal Health Enterprises Ltd witnessed a subdued response on opening day, with the issue being subscribed 15% overall.According to stock exchange data, the IPO received bids for 1.3 crore equity shares against 9 crore shares on offer. The employee-reserved portion emerged as the strongest segment, attracting 89% subscription on Day 1. Retail investors subscribed 25% of their quota, while qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) and non-institutional investors (NIIs) subscribed 14% and 7%, respectively. Ahead of the public issue, the company raised Rs 4,167 crore from anchor investors, including Abu Dhabi Investment Authority – Stable, Templeton Emerging Markets Fund and Allianz Global Investors Fund – Allianz India Equity, among others.The IPO, which closes on July 31, comprises a fresh issue of Rs 8,000 crore and an offer for sale by existing shareholders. Proceeds will primarily be used to repay debt and fund acquisitions.
