Hyderabad: Two people were killed after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) on Tuesday evening. The deceased were identified as K Surender (19), a driver-cum-agricultural worker from Bommalaramaram in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, and Pranithi Reddy (19), a third-year engineering student of a private college in the city. She hailed from Mariyala village in Bommalaramaram mandal.According to police officials, they received a Dial 100 alert at 5.45 pm on Tuesday about a road accident near ORR Exit 1A, close to Neopolis. A Swift car travelling from trumpet interchange on the Narsingi side towards Kollur rammed into a truck parked on the extreme left lane of the ORR.“Our team reached the spot and found the front portion of the car completely mangled due to the impact. The two occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. With the help of the ORR rescue team, they were pulled out, but both had succumbed to their injuries by then,” Gachibowli Inspector K Saidulu said. Based on the car’s registration number and the identity cards found on the victims, the police established their identities.“Preliminary investigation revealed that they had left Bommalaramaram at 8 pm on Monday. On Tuesday, while they were travelling from Gandipet towards Kollur, the accident occurred. We have informed the families of the victims and shifted the bodies for postmortem,” the inspector said. A case has been registered under Section 106(1) (causing death due to negligence) of the BNS.
