Jaisalmer: A 25-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping into an underground water tank with her two sons in Dudwa village under Pachpadra police station area in Balotra early Tuesday morning, police said.Police recovered the bodies of the woman and her children and shifted them to the mortuary of the district hospital. The deceased were identified as Muli Devi (25), wife of Hanuman Prajapat, her two-year-old son Ravindra, and her two-month-old infant Narayan.According to police, the incident came to light after family members woke up around 5am and found the woman and her children missing. Their slippers were spotted near the water tank, raising suspicion. Police, with the help of local divers, recovered all three bodies from the tank and shifted them to the Government Nahata Hospital mortuary in Balotra.Pachpadra SHO Babu Ram Delu said the woman was believed to have jumped into the tank with her children at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.A medical board was constituted to conduct the post-mortem examinations.Police said the exact reason behind the suicide was yet to be established. However, preliminary investigations suggested that a family dispute may have led to the incident. Officers were questioning family members and recording statements from villagers. They said the actual cause would be known only after the investigation was completed.The SHO said Muli Devi was married to Hanuman Ram Prajapat about four years ago. The family earned its livelihood through daily wage labour.The couple had two sons, two-year-old Ravindra and two-month-old Narayan. Police also said that at the time of the incident, no other senior family members were present at home, and only the woman’s younger sister-in-law was there. Investigators were trying to determine when the woman left the house and the circumstances leading up to the incident.
