Bathinda: Inspired by the Cockroach Janta Party’s anti-paper-leak protests, the Youth Akali Dal and Students Organisation of India (SOI) held a sit-in at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) in Faridkot on Monday, demanding the resignations of Punjab education minister Harjot Singh Bains and health minister Balbir Singh. The protesters alleged the July 19 exam for pharmacy officer posts was leaked.Authorities have called it a case of high-tech cheating by a gang which charged Rs 3.5 to Rs 13 lakh. Police have arrested 28 candidates and seven gang members following the recovery of Bluetooth devices at exam centres in Faridkot, Kotkapura and Ferozepur. Akali functionary Parambans Singh Bunty Romana accused the AAP govt of double standards, saying while the party demanded Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation during Delhi protests, it refuses to take action against its own ministers despite “six paper leaks” in Punjab over the last four years. Warning of further agitation if their demands are ignored, the opposition vowed to force the state govt to remove both ministers.
