Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Monday slammed the AAP-led govt over the “deteriorating law and order situation” in the state, citing the petrol bomb attack on the BJP office in Sangrur and a similar attack on a house in Patiala. He questioned the govt’s ability to ensure the safety of people.“The daily incidents of explosions, attacks, robberies, murders and bloodshed across Punjab clearly demonstrate that the present govt has failed to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens. As a result, ordinary people no longer feel safe even inside their own homes,” Dhillon stated.“The petrol bomb attack on the BJP office in Sangrur — the home district of the chief minister, who also holds the home portfolio — and the petrol bomb attack at a house in Patiala are clear evidence that criminals no longer fear the police,” Dhillon stated. He questioned how the rest of Punjab could be expected to remain safe when even the home minister’s own district had witnessed such incidents. He cited “explosion near the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar; grenade attacks on Moga police station, Punjab BJP State Office, and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s residence in Jalandhar; attack on a temple and Gumtala police post in Amritsar; RPG attacks on Sarhali police station and Intelligence headquarters in Mohali; and the hand grenade attack on Bhindi Saidan police station in Amritsar, among several other major incidents.”Dhillon asserted, “When police stations, Intelligence Headquarters, religious places and political party offices themselves are under attack, the safety of ordinary citizens is effectively left to fate.”Ends MSID:: 132663829 413 |
