Chandigarh: A 36-year-old man suffered multiple fractures after he was allegedly assaulted with a cricket bat during an argument over a cricket ball hitting his parked car in Raipur Kalan.The victim, Sudhir Kumar, underwent surgery at PGIMER after sustaining serious injuries to both hands. Based on his complaint, Mauli Jagran police have registered a case against Suraj (20).Police said the incident occurred on July 19 when Sudhir objected to a group of youngsters playing cricket near his house after a ball struck his Hyundai Creta, leaving a dent and scratch. He allegedly asked them to shift to another location to prevent damage to parked vehicles.

Sudhir alleged that the request led to an altercation, during which Suraj approached him with a cricket bat and started abusing him. When he tried to leave, the accused allegedly stopped him and attacked him with the bat.The victim told police that the blows were aimed at his head, but he raised his hands to protect himself and suffered fractures to his fingers and other injuries.He was initially taken to the Sector 6 civil hospital in Panchkula and later referred to PGIMER, where he underwent surgery. Following information from the hospital, police recorded his statement and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
