Ghaziabad: A 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for murdering his sister and leaving her body in a sorghum field near Wave City, police said.The woman, 19, was found with her throat slit on Thursday by a farmer.Deepak Kumar, a resident of Siddarth Nagar district in UP who works as a painter, has now been arrested for the killing. DCP (City and Trans-Hindon) Dhawal Jaiswal said the accused admitted to the crime and said his sister, Reema, had eloped with a youth two weeks ago. He said while the family brought her back, she was adamant about staying in touch with the boy and getting married to him.A few days before the murder, the girl had left her house to go and stay with her maternal aunt in Noida.

On July 22, Deepak had gone to bring her back home. On their way back, the duo got into an argument and the girl repeated that she wanted to get married to the boy after which he killed her with a blade in plaster of paris work.During investigation, police scanned 500 CCTV cameras around the area and found the girl travelling with a man in an autorickshaw. They identified the vehicle from its registration number, traced the driver and asked him for details regarding the girl and the man.Based on the information shared by the driver, police arrested Deepak from a hutment built near a liquor shop in Kajipura. “The blade used in committing the murder was also recovered from his possession,” the DCP said.
