NEW DELHI: One person died and two others were injured after part of an old building collapsed during demolition work in Outer North Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Saturday, police said.The deceased was identified as a 40-year-old labourer. The two other workers, aged 28 and 30, sustained minor injuries and are in a stable condition.Police said they received a PCR call about the incident at 3.17 pm, reporting that a portion of the structure had collapsed during demolition work. A police team, along with the fire brigade and other rescue agencies, rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. According to police, three labourers were trapped under the debris after a section of the roof suddenly caved in while the old building was being demolished and debris was being cleared.

Fire department officials said two of the workers had already been rescued with minor injuries before their teams arrived at the scene. “Rescue teams later extricated another worker from beneath the debris and rushed him to a hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him brought dead,” a senior police officer said.
