Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will build three grand welcome gates at key entry points to the Pink City under a ‘Waste to Art’ theme to enhance Jaipur’s heritage identity, tourism appeal and visual character.The project, estimated at Rs 5.36 crore, will feature artistic installations created from waste materials at three prominent entry corridors — the Delhi-Kunda Mod-Amber route, Ghat Ki Guni Toll Plaza, and Ganga Marg opposite the proposed New Jaipur area. Officials said the gates are aimed at creating a memorable first impression for tourists entering the city.“This initiative will not only give the city’s key entry routes a grand and attractive appearance but also promote environmental conservation through the creative use of waste materials under the ‘Waste to Art’ concept,” an official said.

The gates are expected to be in place ahead of the Walled City of Jaipur’s 300th foundation day celebrations on Nov 18, 2027. Jaipur’s Walled City was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.Each gate will showcase a distinct aspect of Rajasthan’s cultural identity. The Delhi-Kunda Mod gate will be themed around the traditional greeting Khamma Ghani, symbolising the state’s hospitality. The Ghat Ki Guni Toll Plaza gate will draw inspiration from the traditional Lehariya pattern, reflecting Rajasthan’s vibrant folk culture and crafts. The Ganga Marg gate will depict the spirit of Padharo Mhare Desh, featuring artistic figures in traditional Rajasthani attire welcoming visitors.Officials said the tender process has already begun. Construction will start after the tender is finalised and is expected to be completed within six months.
